About the artist: Don Talintyrre

Don Talintyre is a lifelong artist and signwriter whose career began at age 15 with an apprenticeship at a leading Sydney firm, earning Honours at Sydney TAFE and the NSW State Craftsmanship Medal in 1957. After running his own successful signwriting business and later managing Pacific Film Laboratories’ advertising division, Don spent over 16 years teaching Signwriting and Pictorial Art at Sydney TAFE, nurturing the next generation of traditional brush artists. Alongside his professional career, Don developed a passion for painting landscapes and marine scenes, exhibiting widely and earning numerous awards, including the ANL Marine Prize and the President’s Medal from the Australian Society of Marine Artists. A Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW and Life Member of the Bowral District Art Society, Don continues to exhibit and paint in his Appin studio, with works held in collections across Australia and overseas.
