Bungonia RFS SHED
This mural includes shelters, medicinal bush plants, the animals, the river, caves, water, seeds and a community circle, symbolising inclusion and connection across the region. The wombat and kangaroo carry dual meanings. They represent the Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat and the endangered Brush Tailed Rock Wallaby, and also reference the local Bungonia fire unit’s call sign “Wombat,” used during ground operations in bushfires.
This mural was painted as part of the PAINT THE TOWN FESTIVAL – funded by the Australian Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program.
Mural location: 1894 Braidwood Road, Tarago
