Ricky Stuart Mural
Located on the side of The Q, Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, this striking large-scale mural by Wollongong-based artist Claire Foxton celebrates one of Queanbeyan’s most iconic figures, Ricky Stuart. Completed in 2022, the mural honours Stuart’s legacy both as a professional rugby league player and coach, and for his advocacy through the Ricky Stuart Foundation, which supports children with autism and their families.

About the artist: Claire Foxton
Claire Foxton is an Australian artist and designer based in Wollongong, NSW, known for her large-scale murals across Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. With a background in graphic design and a Bachelor of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong (2009), Claire began mural painting in 2016 and has since developed a distinctive style blending photorealism and abstraction.
Her works often explore the connectedness of people and place, with a strong emphasis on colour, texture, and form. Claire’s murals are rooted in a deep respect for storytelling and process, frequently drawing from both digital and analogue techniques. She also maintains a studio practice in acrylic, pencil, and pastel, where she explores themes of identity, matrescence, and duality.
